The overall aim of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) is to provide a platform for scientists and related researchers worldwide to publish their research findings to the scientific community, to encourage their professional development and to provide new perspectives for further research. 

The Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology aims to publish research in the fields of Horticultural, Computer Engineering, Plant Protection, Biology, Biosystems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Food Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, It aims to publish studies on Molecular Biology and Genetics, Forest Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Aquaculture, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Mechanization, Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, Field Crops, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition and Animal Science. It also publishes original research articles, reviews and technical notes produced from studies carried out in related fields. All articles are published electronically only, can be downloaded in full text and the online version is available for free.

Submissions must involve four separate files: "Cover Page", "Blind Article", "Plagiarism Report" and "Copyright Transfer Form". For the Writing Guide, you can review the Author’s Guide section.

Sending an Article

Articles are sent to Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology at https://dergipark.org.tr.

Manuscript Evaluation Processes

Manuscripts to be submitted to the Journal of Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) must be original and have not been published anywhere before (except for articles presented at scientific meetings and only the abstracts of which are published) or submitted for publication. If original research articles are produced from master's or doctoral theses, the authors should indicate this in the acknowledgments section of the article. All responsibilities regarding the scientific content of the articles to be published in the journal belong to the author(s). Review articles are limited to a maximum of 5 articles in each issue.

Blind Review

During the evaluation stages of all manuscripts sent to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology, the identities of the article authors and the reviewers who evaluate the article are hidden by double blinding. For this reason, the article should not contain information about the author(s) when uploading. Author information must be given on the cover page in a separate file.

Evaluation
Articles sent for evaluation to be published in JIST journal are pre-examined by the Editor-in-Chief in line with the publication principles. The Editor-in-Chief has the right to decide to return articles that he/she does not find suitable for publication in the journal without sending them to Pre-Check. Articles sent to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology are pre-checked by assistant editors according to the publication principles, writing rules and ethical rules stated on our Dergipark page. Articles that do not comply with any of these rules are re-sent to the authors for corrections. If the author does not submit the corrections within 20 days at the latest in accordance with the publication principles, writing rules and the ethical rules of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology, the article may be rejected.
Articles that pass the pre-check stage are sent to the evaluation stage by assistant editors. If it is deemed that the submitted article complies with the scientific content and the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology publication principles, writing rules and ethical rules, the recommendation of our relevant advisory board is taken and sent to the Field editor for the purpose of article evaluation.
The field editor may reject the article if its scientific content is weak and does not comply with ethical rules. The field editor may also direct the article to the language editor and statistics editor and ask them to be checked. Articles that do not comply with the writing rules or have insufficient language of expression are returned to the author(s) for correction. The author(s) is/are recommended to have the work examined by a language expert before submitting it in English. If it has a strong scientific content and complies with the ethical rules, the field editor sends it to at least two reviewers who are experts in the relevant field and they review the article in terms of form, content, original value, contribution to international literature and science/technology. The author(s) must recommend at least three potential reviewers who are related to the subject of the article, are experts in their field, and are not from the same institution as the author(s). Reviewers are given 15 (fifteen) days to accept the article for evaluation and 20 (twenty) days to complete the evaluation of the article. During this process, the reviewers send the corrections to the field editor, and the field editor sends them to the author. After making the reviewers’ corrections, the author must complete the editing process by marking the corrections, uploading the article file and the response to the reviewer file. After this process, the article passes under the control of the field editor. If there are reviewers who wish to see the corrections, the field editor sends them to the relevant reviewers. After receiving the reviewer opinions, the field editor notifies the editor-in-chief of his/her decision about the article.
All responsibility for the scientific content of the articles to be published in the journal belongs to the author(s). The "Copyright Form" must be signed by all authors and uploaded by the responsible author to the journal's online application system as a separate additional file together with the article. All authors must be registered in the DergiPark system, and when uploading the article to the system, the names of all authors, address information of the institutions they work for, e-mail addresses and ORCID ID numbers must be entered completely in the metadata section. If any of the authors is not registered in the DergiPark system, the article will be pending and the Editor appointment will not be fulfilled. Additionally, the abstract and references of the article should be entered in the metadata section. If any of the mentioned information is missing, the article will be returned to the corresponding author to complete the information.
Ethics committee approval must be obtained for surveys and animal experiments or clinical studies. This approval must be stated in the article and the ethics committee report must be attached when submitting the article. After the article is accepted, authors cannot be added and the order of authors cannot be changed.
After reviewer evaluation, articles requiring revision are electronically directed to the author(s) via the DergiPark system. The author(s) should take into account the comments of the reviewer(s) and explain the comments and criticisms one by one. They should also prepare a detailed explanation if they disagree with the reviewer comments. The revisions must be uploaded to the system together with the list of corrections within 30 days at the latest and the article revision process must be completed. The specified period may be extended by the author's request for additional time or by the decision of the field editor. Otherwise, the article will be considered as a newly submitted article. The Field Editor makes the final decision on whether the article will be published by reviewing the revisions and corrections made by the author(s) before making the final decision.

Referencing Style (APA 6.0 Version)

APA (6.0) style is taken into consideration as the referencing format in the journal, and authors are expected to prepare their articles in accordance with the referencing rules. Copyediting

During this process, the layout of the article is prepared according to the journal template. First of all, the copyedited version of the article is sent to the authors. Authors notify the copyeditors whether they have checked the final version of the article. Then the edited article proceeds to the typesetting stage.

Article Withdrawal

Articles submitted to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology cannot be withdrawn at the copyediting stage or after they have been accepted for publication. The corresponding author submits his/her request for the article that is not at one of these stages, by a petition signed with the wet signatures by all authors and upload it in PDF format in Dergipark submission system panel or send it to our e-mail address fbed@igdir.edu.tr . The editor-in-chief and assistant editors of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology notify the corresponding author after approving the withdrawal request. Unless the withdrawal request is approved, authors cannot send their work to another journal for evaluation.

Layout and typesetting of the article

Articles in the editing stage are prepared according to the typesetting format of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology and sent to the responsible author of the article in PDF format for control. After the final checking of the corresponding author, the article is put in the queue for publication.

Assigning the article a DOI number and publishing

After the typesetting process and author check of the article are completed, the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number is obtained and the article is placed on our journal page either as an early view or as published.


ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF AUTHORS, EDITORS AND REVIEWERS

PUBLICATION ETHICS
The publication processes of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) are based on the objective production, development and sharing of information using scientific methods. JIST follows the principles of transparency, confidentiality and accountability within the framework of ethical rules in the entire national and international dissemination process of information. In addition, it aims to manage all processes in an efficient and competitive way with a quality-oriented approach. JIST follows the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.
• Peer-reviewed articles require scientific methods and objectivity.
• JIST users (publisher, editors, author(s), reviewer(s), field editors, readers) must comply with the ethical principles of our journal in all processes.
In this context, publication ethics and open access policy of JIST require all components of the publication process comply with ethical principles in line with the guidelines and policies published in open access by International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Council of Science Editors (CSE) (For instance, “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors ” and “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors ”).

• In addition, the journal's editorial and publication processes comply with the rules of the Turkish Council of Higher Education regulations and follow up on suspected cases of research and publication abuse.
These ethical rules and responsibilities are summarized below. All authors/reviewers are expected to read and acknowledge ethical policy of JIST before submitting/evaluating the article.

ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PUBLISHER
Editorial board of JIST consists of academicians who are experts in their fields from various countries and universities. Members of the Editorial Board are appointed considering the scientific branches of science, and the members are appointed according to the editors-in-chief and editorial board members’ own requests. The heads of the editorial board and, depending on the situation, one or more deputy editors-in-chief and field editors are determined. A new member is appointed to replace a leaving member. Depending on the subject of the article, the editor may send an article to faculty members who are not members of the Editorial Board for review as field editors, when necessary.
JIST takes all necessary measures to clarify a situation regarding any article, to make changes to the article in question, or to allege or prove that the work contains any scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, plagiarism or close cooperation with the editors. Iğdır University JIST, together with the editors, will take appropriate steps to prevent publication of the article in which any abuse occurs and will not allow such abuse under any circumstances. JIST is responsible for responding to all claims or doubts raised by readers, reviewers or other editors. In such a case, the relevant article is evaluated by the journal and necessary explanations are made.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD
JIST Editorial Board is responsible for every article applying to Iğdır University JIST, and all processes after its publication, and the Editorial Board acknowledges this responsibility. This responsibility includes considering only the public interest in decisions made on issues related to the journal. It requires making decisions independently, without considering any personal gain. The relationship between the publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence; all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and other persons and organizations.
The Editorial Board strives to constantly improve the Journal and increase the quality of its publication. It also ensures the determination and implementation of journal policies regarding publication, blind-reviews, evaluation process, and ethical principles. The Editorial Board protects the copyright of the articles published in JIST and is responsible for taking measures regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific-unethical behaviour, plagiarism, and citation fraud during the article and journal publication process. The Editorial Board prepares a "Writing Rules" containing the requirements for the authors and a "Reviewer evaluation guide" containing the information that the reviewers will need during the evaluation phase, and updates it when necessary. The Editorial Board determines policies that motivate reviewers and author(s) and keeps the records of each article and correspondence related to the journal electronically.

ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS AND FIELD EDITORS
Editors and field editors of Iğdır University Journal of Science Institute must follow the ethical duties and responsibilities specified in the "CODE OF CONDUCT AND BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL EDITORS” and “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors ". These duties and responsibilities are summarized below.
• Editors strive to meet the information needs of reviewers, author(s), researchers, practitioners and readers, to provide feedback when necessary, and to act in accordance with the principles of openness in matters requiring correction and clarification during the publication process.
• When deciding to publish articles, editors intend to ensure that the articles are original and contribute to the scientific literature, readers, researchers and practitioners.
• When making positive or negative decisions about articles, editors take into account the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of expression, and the purpose and scope of the journal.
• The editors proceed the submitted articles to the preliminary evaluation stage as long as there are no serious problems, take into account the positive reviewer suggestions, and do not change the decisions made by the previous editor(s) unless there are serious problems.
• The editors implement the blind-review and evaluation process policies that are among the journal's publication policies, keep the identity information of the reviewers confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and within due time.
• The editors direct articles by taking into account the field editors’ and reviewers’ field of expertise, and support unbiased and independent evaluation.
• The editors are responsible for guiding the reviewers during the article evaluation process and providing the information they request.
• The editors are obliged to conceal the identity information of the author and reviewers due to blind review.
• Editors are responsible for taking precautions against relationships and conflicts of interest that may arise between the author(s), reviewers and third parties in order to complete the impartial and independent evaluation processes of the articles.
• Editors seek to ensure that the reviewer pool consists of a wide range of members and is constantly updated.
• The editors must take into account the opinions and suggestions of the advisory board about the articles.
• The decisions editors make about the article should be independent of the journal owner and the publisher.
• The editors are responsible for following the journal publishing principles, journal objectives and international standards in the articles to be published in the journal.
• The editors are responsible for not transferring the personal information of the article Author(s) to third parties without their consent.
• The editors prevent reviews that do not comply with academic etiquette and are not scientific.
• The editors ensure that journal publication processes are carried out in accordance with publication policies and guidelines, inform those in charge of the developments in publication policies during the process, and prepare training programs when necessary.
• The editors communicate effectively with everyone involved in the publication process and hold meetings at regular intervals.
• The editors ensure the protection of personal data in the articles evaluated. They protect the individual data of authors, reviewers and readers.
• The editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in articles. They care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants of the articles. They may reject articles without ethics committee approval or permission for experimental research.
• The editors take precautions against abuse of power. When there are complaints about abuse of power, they conduct an objective investigation and share the relevant findings.
• The editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies or misdirections in articles are corrected.
• The editors protect the intellectual property rights of published articles and defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in case of violation.
• They also take the necessary precautions to ensure that the content of the published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications. They check the originality and similarity.
• The editors take into account consistent criticisms of the articles published in the Journal and give the author(s) of the criticized articles the right to respond.
• The editors also consider studies containing negative results.
• The editors are responsible for providing clear and informative answers to complaints from reviewers, authors and readers.
• If manipulation, distortion and use of fabricated data are detected in the data used in the articles, the article will be rejected.
• Our journal has the right to request output files of the analysis results from the authors, based on the feedback given by the editor and/or reviewers.

ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS
In the JIST article evaluation process, a two-way blind review principle is applied in which the author(s) do not know the reviewers and the reviewers do not know the authors. The reviewers cannot communicate directly with the authors. Article evaluation forms, notes on the text and correction requests are forwarded to the author(s) by the editors through the journal management system. Reviewers who will evaluate the articles submitted to JISTmust bear the following ethical responsibilities:
• Reviewers must agree to evaluate only articles related to their field of expertise.
• Reviewers must make the evaluation impartially and confidentially.
• Reviewers should destroy the articles sent to them after the evaluation process and use them only after they are published.
• Nationality, gender, religious belief, political belief and commercial concerns should not impair the impartiality of the evaluation.
• When reviewers realize that there is a conflict of interest, they must refuse to evaluate the article and inform the editors.
• Reviewers should make the evaluation in a constructive manner, in accordance with academic etiquette; personal comments and expressions that contain insults, slander and hostility should be avoided.
• Reviewers must evaluate the article they have accepted to evaluate within the required time.

ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS
• Author(s) cannot follow the process for the same article in two journals at the same time. When the process is completed in one journal and the article is rejected, the article can be sent to the other journal. An article published in another journal cannot be submitted to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology.
• Author(s) must prepare and submit their original work to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology.
• The author(s) must accurately and completely cite the sources in line with ethical principles.
• The names of people who did not contribute to the article should not be written as authors, and changing author order or removing or adding authors should not be recommended.
• If there is a need for adding an author, changing the author order, or removing an author to an article whose evaluation process has started in the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology, an application can be made to the journal administration with the approval of all Author(s). The journal board reviews the application and notifies the responsible author of the decision.
• People who have a conflict of interest regarding the article applied for publication must notify the editors.
• During the evaluation process, the editors, reviewers and field editors may request information or raw data from the authors regarding their articles. Therefore, the authors should have the information or raw data of their articles ready to present.
• Author(s) must document the rights of the data they use in their articles, and verify that permissions for research and analysis or the approval of the participants have been obtained.
• When the authors notice an error regarding their article, which is at the evaluation and early appearance stage or published electronically, they must inform the editor to correct or withdraw the article.
• The author(s) must obtain ethics committee approval for research that requires collecting data through quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, surveys, scales, interviews, observations, focus group studies. The name of the ethics committee, decision date and number should be stated in the "Ethical Approval" section of the manuscript, and the document reporting the ethics committee decision should be uploaded to the system together with the application of the article.
• The author(s) must present evidence in the article that they have paid attention to ethical principles during the data collection process (e.g. obtaining permission from others to use their documents such as scales, surveys, photographs).
• The author(s) must state in the article that research and publication ethics and copyright regulations for intellectual and artistic works are complied with.
• If the research is conducted on human and animal subjects, it should be stated that the research is carried out in accordance with international declarations, guidelines, etc.
• Ethics committee approval is not required from the author(s) for review articles. However, in articles that do not require an ethics committee decision, it should be stated in the "Ethical Approval" section of the article that an ethics committee decision is not required.
• Each article submitted for evaluation for publication is checked for plagiarism by assistant editors using iThenticate software.
• If the similarity index (SI) of the article is over 20%, excluding the Reference sections, and the single source similarity rate is over 5%, it is sent back to the relevant author to reduce it below these rates.
• If plagiarism is proven after publication of the relevant article, the article will be immediately withdrawn and removed from the website. In such a case, the articles of the relevant authors will be considered unsuitable for publication in the Journal of Institute of Science and Technology for five years.
• If errors or inaccuracies are found about the article in any of the pre-checking, evaluation, editing and publication stages, the author(s) must inform the journal management to correct or withdraw the article.
REPORTING UNETHICAL CASES TO THE EDITOR
In case of behaviour that does not comply with the ethical principles of JIST, or if an unethical situation is encountered regarding an article in the evaluation process, in early view, or after publishing, it must be reported to fbed@igdir.edu.tr .

JOURNAL OF THE INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY JOURNAL PUBLICATION POLICY

Open Access Policy
Articles published in the Journal of Institute of Science and Technology are available in full text as open access on our journal page. With this principle, we hope to contribute more to science.

Privacy Statement
The articles published on the website of the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology and the confidential information of the articles under evaluation will be used only for the stated purposes of the journal; it will not be made available for any other purpose or for the use of other people.

Evaluation Policy
In all evaluation stages of the articles submitted to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology, the identities of the article authors and the reviewers who evaluate the article are hidden by double blinding. Two positive reviewer reports are required for articles to be published.
It is anticipated that the publication review process of studies submitted to the Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology will be completed within 6 months. However, this period does not include the period during which the editor or reviewers ask the author(s) to edit and the time during which the author(s) complete(s) editing the manuscript. A published article cannot be corrected. However, if the author requests correction, a short correction text may be published in the issue following the correction request.

Publication Fee
In accordance with JIST Publication Rules, no article submission and publication fees are not charged from authors. Article submission to our journal is free.

Archiving
All articles published by JIST are archived on the DERGİPARK system as full text; contents of the journal, cover page and full issue files are made available to all users.

Advertising and Sponsorship
JIST does not accept any advertisements or sponsorships and does not include them on its page.

Plagiarism policy
Articles submitted to JIST are checked for plagiarism, excluding sources, with the "iThenticate Plagiarism Detection" software, which is available for personal use by the Author(s). The similarity rate must be below 20% (excluding Sources) and the single source similarity rate must not exceed 5%.

Studies requiring Ethics Committee Permission/legal/special permission
In accordance with JIST publication rules, in studies that require Ethics Committee Permission/legal/special permission, the statement indicating where, in what scope, on which date and issue number the Ethics Committee Permission was obtained must be stated in the article when submitting the article to the Journal.
Research requiring Ethics Committee permission is as follows:
• All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require collecting data from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment and interview techniques.
• Use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
• Clinical studies conducted on humans,
• Research conducted on animals,
• Retrospective studies in accordance with the personal data protection law,
Moreover;
• Obtaining and specifying permission from the owners for the use of scales, surveys and photographs belonging to others,
• Stating that copyright regulations are complied with for the ideas and artistic works used.

Copyright Transfer Agreement
Author(s) in all articles sent to JIST are required to sign the "Copyright Transfer Agreement", the content of which is stated below. This contract text should be downloaded on the article submission page, signed by all Author(s), scanned in PDF format and uploaded to the system.
1. All publishing rights belong to JIST,
2. The article complies with the writing and publication rules specified by the journal,
3. The article is original and has not been previously published in Turkish or a foreign language elsewhere, or is not under evaluation for publication,
4. Scientific and ethical responsibility belongs to us, if the other Author(s) cannot be reached; I accept and declare that all Author(s) are aware of the study and that I assume the responsibilities of the other Author(s) as the first author of the article.

EASE STATEMENT ON QUALITY STANDARDS 07 APRIL 2020
The European Association of Science Editors encourages all editors to ensure that COVID-19 research reports meet the required standards and comply with agreed guidelines of EASE Statement on Quality Standards, and that any limitations are clearly stated. 

Journal of the Institute of Science and Technology (JIST) does not charge any transaction and publication fee for the articles.
